Department of Emergency Medicine
The Emergency Medical Department at Maricopa Medical Center is the busiest trauma center in the Valley, one of the only Level 1 Trauma Centers in the Phoenix Metro area. This dynamic facility averages 175 patents per day offering 24-hour acute care Emergency Services.
The Emergency Department partners with the Phoenix Police Department and the Phoenix Fire Department, and MMC is a Base Hospital responsible for the off line medical control of six different agencies:
Two air services (LifeNet, Eagle Air Med).
Four ground-based programs: (Guadalupe Fire Department, Buckeye Valley Rescue, Sacred Mountain Ambulance Service, and The Navajo Nation).
Currently residents and attendings are responsible for over 4500 radio communications a year.
MMC receives approximately 7000 patients a year by ground EMS and 2000 patients a year by air medical helicopters from all over the state of Arizona and the Southwest.
